Actually, not to be a pain, but that looks alot more like a horse fly... If you look more closely at the shape of the head and abdomen I think you'd agree, if you knew what a horse fly looks like. There is a wide variety of horse flys, yes, but, if you search around enough, on Google or Yahoo you'll be able to find a similar looking variety. Although I don't know where the photo was taken, I know that if you go to the horse fly page on wikipedia they show a French variety or two that looks almost identical to the one in the photo, and as well, I've seen an identical sort here in the states as well. Just noting... I know this isn't a science journal site or anything of the like, just thought it'd be a fun fact to point out and to give you a little more insight into your photography. Nice photo though, I like it.
