Kingfisher - Alcedo atthis
I liked this moment so much........and I was so happy that I was able to witness and photograph it...
The only pity was that I couldn't get closer (that would have disturbed them), or actually: that I don't own a 500mm prime that would have given this photograph the nice & smooth bokeh it deserves.

Edit: So to honour this beautiful nature I decided to blur the background artificially to give all attention to these gorgeous birds...

I've been browsing your images and I've noticed a few are taken at 420mm, which I am assuming is a maximum focal, I was just wondering what lens that is? Are you using a 300mm with a 1.4 converter?

Ah, thank you. I have the Canon 100-400mm zoom, and have been considering the 1.4x or 2x converter, can you give me your thoughts on the 1.4? Have you ever regretted not getting the 2x? I had a 2x in my Canon FD kit, but I have been spoiled by IS and AF, and would prefer not to sacrifice this should I need them.

To be honest am not the expert to take to in converters, but look at these two links in a forum called (photography-on-the. net), its canon only and you can learn pretty much everything in there [link] [link] or you could create an account and start asking questions, am not advertising here but deviantart does not talk very specifec in technical photography stuff.

Before I got the 100-400, my main zoom was a Canon EF 75-300mm, which gets horrid reviews everywhere, yet I've done some pretty good motorsports photography with it, and have met another on :devart: who agrees with me. I suspect that this community has different views, and I was just wondering about yours.
