Those trees are amazing with the weather conditions and light as they are. Must be as impressive in Summer, too. And the bloody heck is that poor bird doing there all alone?! :O_o:

There's an utterly amazing feeling of serenity in this picture! The slightly bluish colour palette and the mist... just... pure gold. And yes, I noticed the poor heron.

Just makes me wonder - have you heard Sun Kil Moon's song Heron Blue?

I think the heron makes this shot. It's a gorgeous landscape without him, don't get me wrong. But with him it tells a story. You can see a sad sort of posture, and he's all alone off in the corner of the shot. It's beautiful.
