For some time I was happy to witness a couple of baby barn swallows growing up. There were four of them, including one that was obviously the weakest of the litter. When mum or dad came flying in with a prey (s)he was often looking in the wrong direction. When all brothers and sisters were screaming their lungs out he was quietly hidden behind their backs. And when the weather became very hot he hardly managed to keep sitting on the wire. You can imagine I was worried about the little one and I wondered if he could stand the heat and if he would manage to grow up safe and healthy.... And the good news is: he did! He managed to survive and grew up to be a beautiful barn swallow...
That's beautiful, the colours are so soft and the story fits the picture fits so well, the way the swallow tilts his head up makes him look like he's grinning, as if to say "Yeah, see i did survive!"
looks like s/he is smiling!
