I hope that's mountain ash x)

The waxwings where I used to live would eat them by the dozen and get wasted and act hilariously.

And today someone told me that they have drunk tanks for them somewhere.

Great shot, incidentally!

The ideal moment to catch these "pestvogels" in holland is now, according to the news yesterday. Grats on these pictures, they are adorable birds =)

Ah....I understand...thanks for explaining...
I only know the word Bohemian referring to gypsies, which made sense to me, since they behave like gipsies...;)

very interesting! :giggle: thanks :D I asked, because BOHEMIA is a part of the Czech republic, my homecountry. But this bird does not live here (it comes to my country only during winter), so I found it strange

Haha, I think the Dutch name (Pestvogel, meaning sth like 'Plague Bird' referring to people's fear that these birds could spread the plague) is way stranger ;)

oh I see: Its English name refers to the bright red bead-like tips of the secondary feathers on its wings, which look like drops of sealing wax, while 'Bohemian' refers to the Romani (gypsies), with a comparison to this bird's wandering,[2] or to its (presumed) origin from Bohemia (at the time, a relatively unknown "distant, eastern" place to most English speakers) (wiki)

strange :D
