Past week I met this very friendly person in the train. We had a pleasant conversation and it appeared he stumbled upon some waxwings that day. I must admit I was a little jealous since i had never seen these beautiful birds in my life. The next morning I planned to stay at home because someone was coming over to do some painting in my house. Then the phone rang: the painter caught the flu, so he couldn't make it today.. Such a pity...
I decided I could as well try my luck and go see if the waxwings were there. And there I stood....on a very clouded day in an unknown and very unattractive area. No birds at all. Until...al of a sudden I heard this unknown bird sound, like ringing bells.... To my big surprise I really found them.......in the top of the highest tree in the entire area.
Fortunately the waxwings use high trees as a watching tour, but as soon as they get hungry the whole flock moves to the smaller berry trees, which brought them at least a little closer...
If only the weather hadn't been so bad, if only my lens would have been a lot longer.... Oh well.at least I saw them, which was wonderful enough! And maybe some day I'll have another chance to shoot some better quality photographs....
wow stunning I love waxwings wings they are just such beautiful birds. I saw two yesterday so close, they were plucking berries from a small tree they didnt stay long though.
such amazing photography here I have to say to capture this bird just as it takes off brilliant skill
